  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 8 small flour tortillas
  • vegetable oil for frying

  1. Mix the flour, butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar in a medium bowl until well combined.
  2. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until the dough comes together.
  3. Stir in the chocolate chips.
  4. Place a spoonful of the cookie dough mixture onto a tortilla and spread it out evenly, leaving a small border around the edges.
  5. Roll the tortilla tightly around the filling and place it seam-side down on a plate. Repeat with the remaining tortillas and filling.
  6. Heat a few inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot over medium heat until it reaches 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Carefully place a few of the flautas into the hot oil and cook for about 1-2 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
  8. Remove the flautas from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  9. Repeat with the remaining flautas.
  10. Serve the flautas hot with your choice of dipping sauce. Enjoy!
