Ingredients
  

  • 3 ripe avocados halved, pitted, and scooped
  • Juice of 1 fresh orange about ¼ cup
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • ½ tsp sea salt or to taste
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ cup purple onion finely chopped
  • 1 small tomato diced and seeds removed
  • 2 tbsp cilantro chopped
  • 1 serrano pepper finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)

Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients

  • Start by prepping everything before you mash. Chop the onion, tomato, cilantro, and serrano pepper. Juice your orange and lime. Scoop your avocado into a medium bowl.
  • Tip: Always use fresh citrus. Bottled juice doesn’t give the same fresh punch.

Step 2: Mash The Avocados

  • Use a fork or a potato masher to mash the avocados in a bowl. You want it a little chunky—don’t go full puree here.
  • I like mine with some bite. A little texture helps each ingredient shine through.

Step 3: Add Citrus & Seasoning

  • Pour in the orange and lime juice, then sprinkle in the salt and pepper. Mix gently.

Step 4: Mix In Veggies

  • Add the onion, tomato, serrano, and cilantro. Fold it all together. Taste and adjust salt if needed.

Step 5: Serve It Fresh

  • Scoop into a serving bowl and garnish with a sprig of cilantro or a few chopped tomatoes on top.
  • Best served immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos.
