Ingredients

  • ½ cup Steel Cut Oats
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ¼ cup milk any kind – dairy or plant-based
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans
  • 1 ½ tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Fresh strawberry slices for topping
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Step 1: Cook The Oats

  • In a small saucepan, bring water and a pinch of salt to a boil. Stir in the steel cut oats and reduce the heat to low. Simmer uncovered for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are soft but still have a slight bite.
  • Tip: Don’t walk away—steel cut oats love to bubble over if left alone!

Step 2: Add Creaminess

  • Once the oats are cooked, stir in milk, butter, and cinnamon. Let it simmer for 2-3 more minutes until the mixture thickens and gets creamy.

Step 3: Add Sweet And Crunch

  • Mix in the raisins, brown sugar, and half of the chopped pecans. Stir gently so the sugar melts in and everything is warmed through.

Step 4: Serve It Up

  • Spoon the oatmeal into bowls. Top with the remaining pecans and fresh strawberry slices. You can drizzle a little more milk or a tiny bit of honey on top if you want.
  • Hack: Want that café-style look? Layer the toppings neatly—makes a simple bowl look fancy without much effort.
