Cuisine Mexican
- 2 oz tequila silver or blanco smooth and crisp is best
- 1 oz Cointreau or triple sec
- 1 oz fresh lime juice about 1 lime
- ½ oz olive brine from a jar of green olives
- ½ oz simple syrup optional, if you like a touch of sweetness
- Ice enough to shake and serve
- Coarse salt for rimming the glass
- Lime wedge for garnish
- Green olive optional garnish, but adds a nice touch
Prepare the glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it into coarse salt to coat. Set aside.
Mix the cocktail: In a cocktail shaker, add tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, olive brine, and simple syrup if using.
Add ice: Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 15–20 seconds until the outside feels frosty.
Strain and serve: Strain the cocktail into your prepared glass over fresh ice.
Garnish: Add a lime wedge on the rim and drop in a green olive if you’d like that classic martini-style touch.
