For The Chicken Wings
- 2 lb 900 g chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 3 cloves garlic finely minced
For The Honey Soy Sauce
- ⅓ cup honey
- ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- ¼ cup fresh orange juice
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 green onions thinly sliced
Add the honey, soy sauce, orange juice, sesame oil, ginger, and garlic to a small saucepan.
Place the pan over medium-low heat.
Stir gently until the honey melts into the soy sauce.
Let the mixture cook for about 3–4 minutes. You want it warm and slightly thickened, not heavily reduced.
Taste the sauce. If it feels too salty, add another splash of orange juice or a little extra honey.
For a thicker sauce, stir together cornstarch and cold water in a small bowl. Add it to the saucepan and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Remove the sauce from the heat and set it aside.
